Add services to your catalog (service menu)

The Catalog page (Services in the dashboard sidebar) is where you list the services, add-ons and products your business offers. When the catalog is set up, customers can pick a service when they join; their choice appears on the staff screen and feeds the wait estimate.

  1. Open Services (the Catalog page) in the dashboard sidebar.
  2. Click Add service.
  3. Enter the name, the duration, and an optional price. Duration feeds the wait estimate, so the more accurate it is, the better your estimated wait times. You can also add a buffer time, a description, a color, an icon and an image.
  4. Save. The item is live immediately.

Prices can be fixed, "from" a price, a range, free, or hidden. A business can have up to 500 items and 50 categories.

Starter catalog suggestions and CSV import

You don't have to type in your whole service menu. Two shortcuts:

  • Suggestions: get a suggested starter list of services for your type of business. Adjust names, times and prices, and choose which items to add, before saving.
  • Import CSV: load a spreadsheet of services at once. NextUp shows a preview of every row (new, update, unchanged, or error) and you confirm before anything saves. Imports can be up to 1,000 rows and 1 MB.

You can also export your catalog to CSV or a branded Excel workbook.

Organize services into categories

Group catalog items under categories to keep the join form tidy. Open the Categories tab to add and rename categories, then drag items into them on the Items tab. Drag categories to reorder them; customers see them in this order. A category can be hidden from customers.

To hide a single service without deleting it, mark it inactive. Inactive services disappear from the join form but stay in your history, so past visits and reports are preserved. You can also archive and restore items, or make an item staff-only so customers don't see it. Bulk actions let you activate, deactivate, archive, restore, move or change visibility for many items at once.

Different services or prices per location, and per staff member

On the Catalog page's Locations tab you can turn individual items on or off per location, and override an item's price or duration at one location. This is useful if some services are only offered at one branch.

You can also choose which team members do each service, and set a team member's own duration for a service (for example a senior barber who is faster at fades). Open the service, or open a person's card on the Staff page, to choose. Customers who ask for a specific person are only offered people who do the services they picked, and the services wait estimate uses each person's own time.

Let customers choose services when they join

Per location you choose whether customers pick services on the join form: off, optional, or required. You can also set a limit on how many items can be picked per visit, and whether prices and times are shown to customers.

On their phone or the door tablet, customers pick services and add-ons from your menu and see the total time and price before they join. Their choices appear on the staff screen, and staff can change the services on an active visit.

Add-ons can be linked to specific services, or offered with all services. If you run a flash sale, discounted prices show on the join and booking pages during the sale window.

Flash sales (time-limited discounts)

Flash sales are time-limited discounts that show automatically on your join and booking pages during the window you set. No coupon codes are needed: customers see the lower price next to the original when they pick a service.

  1. Open Flash Sales in the dashboard sidebar and click Create sale.
  2. Give it a name, set the discount percentage, and set the start and end date and time.
  3. Leave the service filter blank to discount all services, or choose specific services.
  4. Save. Sales can be created in advance and start on their own.

You can edit a sale that hasn't ended, or end one early; pricing then returns to normal for new check-ins. If sales overlap, the highest discount wins.

Service types (simple menu for triage)

The Service Types page is a lightweight menu of service types, each with just a name and a duration, used for triage and wait estimation at locations that ask customers what kind of visit they need before joining. It is separate from the full catalog and has no prices or add-ons. Most barbershops and salons use the full services catalog instead, because it also handles prices, add-ons, categories, per-location availability and which team member does what. If you're unsure which to use, start with the Services (Catalog) page: its durations feed the wait estimate and the booking slots.
