Know what each person earned

Set a commission rate for each person and share a location’s tips across the team. At the end of the period, NextUp Walk-in shows what each person is owed.

  • Percentage or flat rates
  • Tiers and service rates
  • Tips shared by hours, equally or by points
  • Statements as PDF, CSV or Excel

A rate for every person

Choose a percentage or a flat amount per person, with tiers if the rate changes after a revenue threshold.

  • Percentage or flat.A percentage applies to services and add-ons. A flat amount is paid per service done.
  • Tiers. The rate can change after a revenue threshold.
  • A rate for one service.A service can have its own rate for a person. It’s paid at that rate and left out of their tiers.
  • Fair on refunds.A bill refunded in full earns no commission, and a part refund earns on what was kept.
Example: commission rates at Fade Room Barbershop.

Run the report at the end of the period

Pick a date range and run it. See each person’s revenue, tips and commission owed, from completed visits that had a price.

  • Statements per person.Download as a PDF in your logo and colors, or as CSV or Excel.
  • Their own earnings. Each person sees their own on their book, and can download their own statement.
  • People who leave.Someone you remove stays in the report for the periods they worked, so you can work out final pay.
  • You pay your team.NextUp Walk-in shows what each person is owed. Your business pays its team.
Example: a pay period’s commission report.

Share tips across the team

A tip pool shares a location’s tips each period: weekly, every two weeks, twice a month or monthly.

  • Three ways to split.By hours worked from the time clock, equally, or by points.
  • For staff only.Owners and managers aren’t in the pool.
  • You review the shares. When the period ends, the owner looks them over and can leave someone out.
  • On the statement. Each share goes on the person’s statement, to be paid through payroll or marked paid.
Example: a tip pool split by hours worked.

How it works

  1. 1

    Set the rates

Give each person a percentage or flat rate, with tiers if you like.

  2. 2

    Let the period run

Commission and tips add up from completed visits while the period runs.

  3. 3

    Review and pay

Run the report, check the shares, and pay your team. Download each statement.

Who it’s for

  • Barbershop

Pay each barber a percentage of their services, with a higher rate after the first $4,000 a period.

  • Salon

Give a colorist her own rate on color services, and pool the front desk’s tips by hours worked.

  • Restaurant

Pool the shift’s tips across servers and share them by hours, then give each person a statement.

The small things

  • Cash tips

Record cash tips on a person’s book, on every plan. They carry into statements.

  • Payroll export

Hours, commission and tips go into files for Gusto, ADP or QuickBooks Payroll.

  • On their book

Team members see their own earnings.

  • Every step shown

Statements show each step from what customers paid to what is owed.

Questions

Does NextUp Walk-in pay my team?

No. Payments are processed by Stripe on your own Stripe account, and NextUp Walk-in never holds your money. It shows what each person is owed and exports it, and your business pays its team.

Which plans have commissions and tip pools?

Both are part of Pro (and Restaurant), and the free trial includes them. On Walk-in the pages show an upgrade card.

Does a refund change commission?

Yes. Refunds come off first, so a bill refunded in full earns no commission and a part refund earns on what was kept.
