A waiting-room TV display that calls the next person

Put the live line on the TV in your waiting room, so nobody has to ask how long. It shows who is being called and who is next, with a chime and a code to join, in your colors. Plug in an Apple TV or a streaming stick and pair it with a short code.

  • Now calling, up next
  • Chime and spoken names
  • Your logo and colors
  • Pair with a short code

Now calling, up next

Call the next person and the TV changes at once. The room sees whose turn it is, and what is coming.

  • Now calling.Shows who is ready, with the team member they are going to.
  • Up next. The next names, with “With Next Available” or the person they asked for, plus the current wait.
  • Privacy built in.First name and last initial only.
  • A code to join.A QR code and short link on the screen let the next customer join the line from their phone.
Example: the TV when a customer is called.

Loud enough, and yours

Choose how the TV sounds and looks from Branding, then TV Display. Each extra is off until you turn it on.

  • Chime and spoken names. An optional chime on every call, with names said aloud in English or Spanish on the web TV.
  • Call-up spotlight.A full-screen “You’re up!” with the photo of the team member who is ready, or their initials.
  • Rotating content between calls. The current wait, live flash sales, up to 8 Lookbook styles, the best time to visit and a few recent 4 and 5 star reviews.
  • Large-text line and weather.High contrast rows that read from across the room, and optional weather from the US National Weather Service.
Example: the TV Display settings in the dashboard.

Any screen you already own

An ordinary TV with a small device in its HDMI port is all it takes. Pair it once with a short code and it stays connected.

  • Native apps. The NextUp app for Apple TV, Roku and Fire TV. An Apple TV 4K is the smoothest.
  • Or a browser.Open your location link followed by /tv on a streaming stick, a computer or a spare tablet in landscape. It needs no login.
  • Pair with a code. The TV shows a 6-character code. Type it under Connect a TV in the dashboard, from your phone or a computer. It is one-time use and good for 15 minutes.
  • It stays paired. After a restart the TV reconnects on its own, until you connect it to a different location.
Example: pairing a TV from the Locations page.

How it works

  1. 1

    Plug in a device

An Apple TV or a streaming stick in the TV’s HDMI port, or any browser.

  2. 2

    Pair it with the code

Type the 6-character code under Connect a TV on your Locations page.

  3. 3

    Set the look

Add your logo and colors, and turn on the chime or spotlight if you want them.

  4. 4

    Call the next person

The Staff Screen calls, and the TV follows with the name and a chime.

Who it’s for

  • Barbershop

The wall TV calls the next chair and shows a join code, so nobody shouts a name across the shop.

  • Hair salon

A branded screen at the front shows the wait and rotates in flash sales between calls.

  • Auto service

A TV in the waiting area shows whose car is next, by first name and last initial.

The small things

  • Spoken call-ups

Names read aloud in English or Spanish on the web TV, in turn and never over each other.

  • The way to the chair

With a Layout Map, the TV can show the route to the chair. See Floor plan calling.

  • What to skip

A standard Chromecast only mirrors a phone and freezes when that phone sleeps. Use a streaming stick or Apple TV.

  • Keep it awake

Turn off the screen saver and set the display to never sleep so it stays on all day.

Questions

What should a waiting-room TV show?

Who is being called and who is next, the current wait and a code to join, so nobody has to ask the desk. Between calls it can rotate the wait, flash sales, Lookbook styles and recent reviews.

Which plans have the TV display?

Every plan, the Free plan included, within its limits. The Free plan includes every app: the Staff Screen, the TV display, the Door Tablet and the phone apps.

What shows on the TV about customers?

First name and last initial only, with the team member they are going to.

Do I need to buy special hardware?

No. Any ordinary TV works with an Apple TV or a streaming stick. A spare tablet in landscape works too.

Do the spotlight and rotating content work on every device?

They show in a web browser, the Apple TV app and the Roku app. The large-text line and spoken call-ups are not on Apple TV and Roku yet.
