Your regulars bring in new clients

Every client gets a link to share. A friend gets a flat amount off a first visit, and your client earns store credit once that visit is paid.

  • You pick the amounts
  • A link for every client
  • Credit after the first bill is paid
  • Funded by you, not NextUp Walk-in

Set the offer you can afford

Turn it on in Store credit, in the Client referrals card. It is off until you do, and the owner or a manager can set it.

  • What a friend gets.A flat amount off their first bill. The default is $5, up to $50.
  • What your client gets.Store credit. The default is $5, up to $50.
  • A yearly cap.The most friends one client can bring in a year: 12 by default, up to 100.
  • You fund it.NextUp Walk-in pays nothing toward the discount or the credit.
Example: the Client referrals card for Fade Room Barbershop.

A link every client can share

Clients find their link on their visit page and in the NextUp app. It opens a page in their friend’s language, where the friend enters a mobile number.

  • New clients only. The friend must have no finished visit at any of your locations and not be on a client list you imported.
  • Once each. Each person can take the offer once, through any link. Nobody can refer themselves.
  • Shown on the bill.A “Friend referral discount” line appears on the bill, the pay page and the receipt.
  • Never below zero. The discount comes off services first, then products.
Example: a friend’s first bill.

See every referral

The Client referrals card lists each one, who referred whom, and where it stands. Sort it, filter it, and download it as CSV or Excel.

  • Clear statuses.Waiting for their first visit, first bill open, credit given, credit taken back, or no credit.
  • Credit after payment. It is granted only when the first bill is paid in full.
  • Fair if refunded. If the first bill is refunded in full before the credit is used, the credit is taken back. A part refund keeps it.
  • In your reports.Friend discounts show in your accountant’s reports as “Friend referral discounts”.
Example: the referral list.

How it works

  1. 1

    Turn on Store credit

The reward is store credit, so it has to be on.

  2. 2

    Set the amounts

Choose the friend discount, the client credit and the yearly cap.

  3. 3

    Clients share

The friend’s first bill gets the discount. The client earns credit when it is paid.

Who it’s for

  • Barbershop

A regular texts his link to a buddy. The buddy’s first cut is $5 off and the regular banks $5 toward his next one.

  • Salon

Clients share with friends who have never sat in your chair. The credit lands after the new client pays.

  • Tattoo studio

A happy client sends a friend for their first piece. The credit goes toward the next session.

The small things

  • Promotional credit

It is labelled “Promotional credit, not paid for” and cannot be cashed out.

  • Friend’s language

The page the friend opens is in their language.

  • No self-referrals

Nobody can refer themselves, and each person takes the offer once.

  • Download the list

CSV or Excel, with the discount, the credit given and the bill.
