How It Works for Your Customers

- 1
They open the bill
From a pay link, a QR code at the counter, a booking or the gift card page, on their own phone. No app to download.
- 2
Stripe’s secure page opens
It shows the ways to pay that fit this payment: wallets the phone has set up, the methods you switched on, and a card.

- 4
The bill closes
The payment and its tip land on the bill in NextUp Walk-in, and the bill closes.
Who Turns It On

Questions
Do my customers need an app to pay?
No. A pay link or QR code opens Stripe’s secure page in the phone’s browser. Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link appear there on their own when the customer has them.
Do I need anything extra to accept Apple Pay or Google Pay?
No. They come with card payments: nothing to install, register or switch on. At the counter, a Stripe card reader or Tap to Pay on Android reads them by tap.
Do you accept Samsung Pay?
Yes, in person: customers tap their Samsung phone on a Stripe card reader or on a phone running Tap to Pay on Android. Online, Samsung phones pay with Google Pay.
Is Android Pay accepted?
Android Pay is the old name of Google Pay, and Google Pay is accepted online and at the counter.
How do I turn on Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay, Zip, Sunbit, Amazon Pay, stablecoin or bank payments?
An owner switches each one on in the dashboard, on the Payment methods table of the Payments page. Pay over time, stablecoin, bank payments, Venmo and Zelle are off until you do; Amazon Pay is on unless you turn it off. Stripe may also need to approve a method for your account; the screen shows where each one stands.
When does pay over time pay my business?
Your business is paid in full for the payment, and the customer repays the provider. It is for customers in the US paying in US dollars, within the smallest and largest amounts Stripe sets for each provider. A booking deposit paid this way keeps no card on file for a no-show fee.
Why isn’t a bank payment offered on every deposit?
A US bank payment takes about 4 business days to clear. It is offered on a booking deposit only when the visit is at least a week away, and never on a friend’s share of a split bill.
Where does the money go?
Payments are processed by Stripe on your own Stripe account; NextUp Walk-in never holds your money. Stripe pays out to your bank on your Stripe schedule.
What does each method cost?
Stripe charges its own fee for each method, listed on Stripe’s pricing page. NextUp Walk-in’s card fee is 0.5% of card payments, never on tips, at most $1 a payment, on top of Stripe’s processing fee.
