Tax season walk-ins, without a lobby full of folders.

Clients check in from their phone or your front-desk tablet, say what they need, and get a text when a preparer is ready. Document drop-offs and quick questions stop waiting behind full returns.

What walk-ins are like today

The stuff that eats a shift, before anything changes.

  • The Saturday rush

From late January to April 15, clients arrive with a shoebox of forms at the same time, and the lobby runs out of chairs.

  • Long returns, short questions

A business return takes two hours and a document drop-off takes two minutes, but both wait in the same line.

  • "How much longer?"

Preparers stop in the middle of a return to answer the line, and clients who give up go to the office down the street.

How NextUp helps

What changes once the line lives on a phone instead of a bench.

1

Wait anywhere

Clients hold their place from their phone and run errands. If they opt in, a text calls them back when a preparer is ready.

2

Waits that know a return from a drop-off

Each service counts for its own time, so an individual return, a business return and a drop-off each move the estimate by the right amount.

3

Pick a preparer

Returning clients can ask for the preparer who did their taxes last year and see that person’s own wait.

See it for your tax preparers

Five screens, one system, always in sync — styled the way your customers and team will actually see it.

Tax preparers: common questions

Can clients drop off documents without waiting behind full returns?

Yes. Add a document drop-off service with a short time. It counts for only a few minutes in the wait estimate, and staff can call drop-offs up between returns.

Can we take walk-ins and appointments during tax season?

Yes. Appointments sit beside the walk-in line. Clients pick a service, a preparer and a time, and confirmations and reminders go out 24 hours and 1 hour before.

Do clients upload tax documents to NextUp?

No. NextUp runs your line, check-in, appointments and payment at checkout. Keep tax documents and Social Security numbers in your tax software, not in NextUp.

Can we take payment when the return is done?

Yes. Take cash, send a pay link the client pays on their phone, charge a saved card, or use a Stripe card reader at the desk.

How much does a tax office queue app cost?

NextUp is $29 a month for your first location and $19 for each additional one. Every plan includes the TV screen, the door tablet, appointments and 1,000 texts per location each month, then $0.05 a text. There are no per-seat fees. The 14-day free trial needs a card, but nothing is charged until it ends.

Give your tax preparers their time back.

Set up your first location in about two minutes. Your line can be live before your next walk-in.
