Take cards at the counter, if you want to

A reader is optional. Every business takes cards with no hardware, using a pay link or QR code. When you want the full front-desk experience, add a Stripe reader and the bill closes itself.

  • No reader needed to start
  • Stripe S700 at the counter
  • Stripe M2 in the NextUp app
  • Money goes to your own Stripe

At the counter

A smart reader with its own screen. The customer picks a tip, taps their card, and the bill closes itself in NextUp Walk-in.

  • Stripe Reader S700.The reader NextUp Walk-in has tested most. It connects over Wi-Fi, or Ethernet with Stripe’s hub or dock.
  • Tip on the reader. The customer chooses their tip, then taps, inserts or swipes.
  • Charged from the bill.No amounts typed in twice.
  • Added in a minute.Type the code the reader shows into Checkout, then Card readers.
Example: a reader added under Card readers.

At the chair, in the app

A team member can take a card away from the counter, using their phone.

  • Stripe Reader M2.A small Bluetooth reader a team member pairs to their phone in the NextUp app.
  • Tap to Pay on Android.A team member’s Android phone takes a contactless card in the NextUp app, with no reader.
  • Mix and match. One bill can be paid in parts: cash, a reader, and a customer paying their share on their phone.
  • Already have a WisePOS E?It still works with NextUp Walk-in.
Example: a bill paid in two parts.

No reader? No problem

A reader is an upgrade, never a requirement.

  • Pay link or QR code. The customer pays on their own phone with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card, tip included.
  • Saved cards.Regulars can save a card and pay the next bill in one tap.
  • Cash and more.Cash, gift cards and store credit work at the same checkout.
  • Your own Stripe account.Card payments reach your account, less Stripe’s fee and NextUp Walk-in’s card fee.
Example: ways to take payment on one bill.

  • Receipts

Print a receipt from checkout, or email one.
