How much does NextUp cost? (pricing and plans)
NextUp is priced per location, with two plans:
- Essential: 29 dollars a month for your first location and 19 dollars a month for each additional location.
- Restaurant: 69 dollars a month for your first location and 44 dollars a month for each additional location. It includes everything in Essential plus a live floor plan, QR ordering at every table, Stripe payment at the table, a pending orders view and server assignment per table.
Both plans include 1,000 texts per location each month, then 5 cents per text. There are no per-seat fees (owners and managers are included), no setup fees, and no feature tiers: every location gets the full product. For 10 or more locations, email support@nextupwalkin.com about volume pricing. If yearly billing is offered, the pricing page shows it.
Prices don't include taxes. The pricing page and your Billing page always show the current prices.

Is there a free trial? Can I try NextUp before I pay? Is there a free plan?
Yes, you can try NextUp before you pay: there is a 14-day free trial with every feature included. You won't be charged during the trial, and if you cancel before it ends you are not billed. Texts are counted during the trial but not charged. The trial is one per person and email address.
There is no permanent free plan. When a trial ends without a subscription, your locations stop taking online check-ins until you subscribe; your dashboard and staff screen keep working, and your data is kept.

Subscribe, update your card, or download invoices
Open Billing in the dashboard sidebar (owners only). Click Subscribe to start your paid plan; you'll go to Stripe Checkout to enter card details. After that, click Manage billing to open Stripe's customer portal, where you can update your payment method, download past invoices and change your billing email. Receipts are emailed automatically.
You're charged at the start of each billing period for your locations, and at the end of the period for any text overage. Stripe processes all payments; NextUp never sees or stores your full card number. If a payment fails, Stripe retries it for a while and the service keeps working during that time.
Adding or removing locations: how billing changes
Your subscription follows the number of locations in your business. Add a location any time from the Locations page; it's billed at your plan's per-location rate and prorated for the rest of your billing cycle. Removing a location lowers your charge; Stripe may apply prorated credits.
Each location has its own line, screens, QR code, settings and 1,000 included texts a month. Up to 9 locations can be added from the dashboard; for 10 or more, talk to support about volume pricing.
Switch plans or cancel your subscription
You can switch between the Essential and Restaurant plans from the Billing page. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
To cancel, use Manage billing (Stripe's customer portal). No phone call or email is needed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep full access until then and won't be charged again, except for any text overage already used. Payments aren't refunded for partial periods, unused locations or unused texts, except where the law requires.
Only owners can change the subscription.
What happens if my trial or subscription lapses?
If your trial ends without a subscription, or your subscription is cancelled or ends because a payment failed:
- Your locations stop taking online check-ins: customers can't join the line from the join page or the door tablet.
- Your dashboard and staff screen keep working, so you can see your data, manage your account and subscribe again.
- Your data is kept, subject to the normal automatic deletion schedule, and is all there again as soon as you resubscribe.
To get back up and running, open Billing and subscribe.
