Your business in ChatGPT and Claude: live waits, hours and a join link

More people ask an AI assistant “where can I get a haircut with a short wait?” instead of searching a map. NextUp Walk-in now runs a public, read-only connection for that. An assistant that supports MCP can look up your live wait, services and hours, and hand the customer a link to join your line or book.

The short answer

NextUp Walk-in has a public MCP server at app.nextupwalkin.com/mcp. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard assistants use to call outside tools. ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants that support MCP can connect to it with no sign-in.

It is read-only. The assistant can look things up and return links. It cannot join a line, book a time or change anything: the customer taps the link and confirms on your own page. Listings in the ChatGPT and Claude directories are coming; until then, the connection can be added by anyone who knows the address.

What an assistant can do

It has six tools. It can find walk-in places in a US city by trade, open places first and shortest wait first, with each place’s current wait. It can get one place’s details: address, whether it is open now, today’s hours, the wait, the people waiting, and whether it takes walk-ins and bookings. It can list the services your join page shows, with the prices and lengths you show. It can read open appointment times for a day, when online booking is on. And it can build a link to join the line or to book, with the service and team member already chosen.

So “oil change near Austin with no wait” or “what does a full groom cost at the groomer on Main Street” gets a real answer, and a link to act on it.

What it never does

Nothing is written by an assistant. It sees only what your public join page already shows: no customer names, no phone numbers, nothing staff-only. Requests are rate limited, and answers are kept short (a handful of places, services and times).

Only locations with “Wait times near you” switched on appear in city searches. If you prefer not to be listed, leave that switch off.

Who it helps

Anyone with walk-in traffic: a barbershop with a Saturday rush, an auto service shop selling same-day oil changes, a groomer with a gap this afternoon, a clinic or tax preparer with a service counter. The wait is the part an assistant cannot guess, and it is the part NextUp Walk-in knows.

It works for every business type, because the wording is neutral (team member, service, visit).

See what it brings in

Links an assistant hands out carry a source tag. Bookings made from them are counted as AI assistant bookings on Get found online, next to Google and Instagram, so you can see whether it is working.

Get found on Apple Maps and Yelp too

Get found online now has copy-ready links and step-by-step instructions for adding check-in or booking to your Apple Maps place card (through Apple Business) and your Yelp business page. Each link is tagged, and bookings from each are counted per location for the last 30 days. It is in every plan.

Between the join page’s structured data, Wait times near you, and the assistant connection, the same live facts reach the places customers already look. See pricing for plans.

Questions

Is NextUp Walk-in listed in ChatGPT or Claude?

Not yet. Directory listings are coming. Assistants that support MCP can connect to the public server now.

Can an assistant book or join the line for a customer?

No. It only reads public information and returns links. The customer confirms on your own join or booking page.

Does it cost extra?

No. There is nothing to switch on beyond Wait times near you, which controls whether a location appears in city searches.

What customer data can assistants see?

None. They see what your public join page shows: wait, hours, services and prices, and open times.
