Your line shouldn’t crash on Saturday

The worst time for a waitlist to break is the hour you need it most. In App Store reviews of booking and waitlist apps, outages, bugs and crashes are the most common complaint of all. Here is how NextUp Walk-in is built to keep the line moving, and what it commits to.

The most common complaint

Competitive Intel read 783 recent 1–3 star App Store reviews of 14 booking and waitlist apps in October 2026. Outages, bugs and crashes came up in 232 of them, more than any other theme. “We deal with crashes during our busiest times,” one Yelp Guest Manager reviewer wrote. Confusing updates came next, in 176.

Nothing to install at the front desk

The staff screen, the TV display and the door tablet run in a web browser. There is no front-desk app to update on a Saturday morning, and any phone, tablet or computer with a browser can take over if one device gives up.

Every screen stays in step live: when your team taps Call next, the TV, the door tablet and each customer’s phone update at once.

When the Wi-Fi drops

If the shop’s connection drops, the staff screen keeps working for the everyday taps. Call next, Start, Done and No-show are saved on the device, marked “Waiting to send”, and sent in order when the connection is back. Customers’ phones use their own mobile data, so they can still see their place.

NextUp Walk-in does need the internet, so keep a paper list in a drawer for a full outage. Card payments are coming soon (Early Access), and will need a connection too.

What NextUp Walk-in commits to

Our Terms of Service set a 99% uptime target each calendar month for signing in, joining a line and running the queue. A month that falls short earns a credit on that month’s subscription: 10% below 99%, 25% below 95%. Text and email delivery are outside that target.

Try it on your own busiest day: the 14-day free trial has every Pro feature. See pricing, or read why customers don’t need an app.
