An inspector asks for the cleaning log and a barber's licence, and somebody goes looking for a binder. NextUp Walk-in now keeps both. Licences and insurance sit on each team member's profile with a reminder before they expire, and a cleaning log gets ticked off on the staff screen and prints for the inspector. Both are on every plan, with starter lists for each type of business.
Licences and insurance, with a reminder
Open a team member's profile and add a credential: the type, the number, the state, the expiry date, and a photo of the card if you like. The photo is private. Each one shows as current, expiring soon (within 30 days) or expired, in red on the profile card and on the Staff page, so one glance shows who needs to renew.
The owners (and the person themselves) get an email 30 days and 7 days before a credential expires, once each. Owners and managers can edit anyone's. A team member signed in with their own email sees their own, can add a new one and can record a renewal themselves.
It is not the same as client Health Records, which track a customer's or pet's vaccinations. This is for your staff. For the client side, see digital waivers and vaccination records.

The credential list follows your business type
You pick from the credentials that fit your trade. A barbershop sees barber licence, cosmetology licence and bloodborne pathogens certificate. A nail salon sees nail technician, cosmetology and esthetician licences. A tattoo studio sees a tattoo or body-art licence and the bloodborne pathogens certificate. Massage and spa offers massage therapist, esthetician and cosmetology licences.
Pet groomers get a groomer certification. Vet clinics get veterinarian and vet tech licences. Auto shops get ASE certification and state inspector licence, and device repair gets a repair certification. Chiropractors, tax preparers (PTIN and EFIN) and restaurants (food handler and food manager certificates) have their own. Every type can add booth renter insurance, liability insurance or "Other", which is useful when a chair renter has to show proof of cover.
A cleaning log that gets ticked off, not forgotten
The cleaning log is a checklist per location. You start from a list for your type of business and edit it. Each item is either daily or per visit. A few take a reading too, like a temperature or a spore test result.
The starter lists are real working ones. A hair salon or barbershop gets "Disinfect tools between clients", "Change towels and capes" and "Clean sinks and shampoo bowls". A tattoo studio gets "Autoclave cycle run", "Spore test result" (with a reading), "Sharps container checked" and "Set up fresh gloves and barrier film". A pet groomer gets "Disinfect kennels and crates", "Clean and disinfect tubs" and "Clean and sterilize clippers and tools". Massage and spa adds "Change linens between clients" and "Clean and sanitize hot stones and tools". A restaurant gets fridge, freezer and hot-holding temperatures plus a sanitizer strength check. Auto and repair shops get a shop safety walk-through, spill check and "Exits and fire extinguishers clear".
Service counters and the "other" type start with an empty list you fill in yourself. The log is on by default for personal care, tattoo, pet, vet and restaurant locations, and any other type can switch it on.

Tick it from the staff screen
The staff screen has a Cleaning log button, so the person closing up ticks the items there. Each tick records who did it (or "Staff screen" if the shared screen did), when, and for which location. Nothing needs a separate login or a second device.
The log can't be quietly rewritten. Entries are append-only: a mistake gets a correction row, so the history stays honest. That is what an inspector wants to see.
Print it for the inspector
The log opens as a table you can sort and filter. Print the last 30 or 90 days, or download it as a CSV. Pair it with the credentials on each profile and you can answer "show me your records" in a minute instead of an afternoon.
Your local rules decide what you must keep and for how long. The starter lists are a starting point, not legal advice, so check them against your state and county and edit them to match.
Try it
Add your team's credentials first, since the dates are the part people forget. Then open the cleaning log, trim the starter list to what your shop really does, and tick the first shift. Licences and the cleaning log are included on every plan, and the 14-day trial has every Pro feature. See the product tour or start free.
Questions
Is the cleaning log a Pro feature?
No. Licences and insurance tracking and the cleaning log are on every plan.
Which businesses get a starter cleaning list?
Barbershops, hair and nail salons, brow and lash studios, tattoo studios, pet groomers, vet clinics, massage and spa, restaurants, and auto, car wash and device repair shops. Service counters and "other" start with an empty list you fill in.
Can someone edit a log entry afterwards?
No. Entries are append-only. A mistake is fixed with a correction row, so the original stays on record.
