Switching a barbershop from Squire to NextUp Walk-in
Squire is built for barbershops and does booking and payments at the chair well. Shops look at NextUp Walk-in when walk-ins drive the day, because a booking-first app treats a walk-in as an afterthought. Here is how to move without a bad Saturday.
What the two cost
On Squire’s pricing page (checked October 2026), the Independent plan for one barber is $30 a month, and a shop with more than one barber needs the Pro plan at $50 a month. Its card rates are 2.9% + 30¢ online and 2.5% + 20¢ in person.
NextUp Walk-in’s Walk-in plan is $29 a month with 3 team members per location included, then $10 each. Online booking, deposits and the calendar are on Pro at $59 for the first location. Card payments are coming soon (Early Access); until then checkout takes cash. The full table is on the Squire comparison.
Keep your bookings
Booking is a Pro feature in NextUp Walk-in. Standing appointments repeat weekly, every two weeks or monthly, each barber has a booking page and a link for their bio (see a booking link for every team member), and the calendar sits beside the walk-in line instead of apart from it. Move future appointments over before you turn the old calendar off, and tell regulars the new link once.
Bring clients and services
Ask Squire for the clients export its help pages describe, check what is in it, and drop the file into Clients, then Import clients. NextUp Walk-in matches columns, previews every row and can undo. Services go in as a spreadsheet of name, length and price. See the import guide. Imported numbers are never texted; on Pro, a separate one-time step can email your imported list once (clients seen in the last 12 months, each welcomed with an unsubscribe link).
Add what a booking app leaves out
The line is the new part: a QR code at the door, a live wait on the customer’s phone, a TV in the waiting area and a door tablet for customers without a phone, on every plan. Each barber has their own line, so a customer can wait for a favorite or take the next one free. How to manage walk-ins in a barbershop has the day-to-day.
Businesses switching from another app get their first month free with the code SWITCH on monthly billing, and the 14-day trial has every Pro feature.
