Pro

Rent out chairs and suites. Keep the line.

Set renters up on Booth rent or Suite rental, turn on No payments for the location, and let each pro add their own payment links. The shop runs the line and collects rent. Customers pay the pro directly.

  • Booth rent or Suite rental
  • No payments, per location
  • Each pro adds their own links
  • Money goes straight to the pro

Two pay setups for renters

Each team member has a pay setup. Booth rent and Suite rental are for pros who rent from you: their tips and services go on their own statement, less the rent they pay you.

  • Booth rent. For pros renting a chair, booth or station on the shared floor.
  • Suite rental. For pros who run their own business from a private room you rent them. It works exactly like booth rent; only the space differs.
  • Rent has its own setup.Rent is an amount and a schedule (weekly, every two weeks or monthly) for each renter, set separately from the pay setup. Rent is on Pro, and the free trial has it.
  • Packages and memberships. The ones a renter sells themselves are theirs, on their statement.
Example: choosing how each team member earns.

What the customer sees

The links show on the customer’s check-in page while they wait, and on the pro’s own public page. A signed-in team member also finds them on the staff screen, behind “Show pay links”.

  • One line goes with them.“Paid straight to {Name}, not to the shop or NextUp Walk-in.” It uses that pro’s own name.
  • Cash App and Venmo open. Each is a button that opens the app. A pay link of their own is a “Pay online” button.
  • Zelle is copied. The phone number or email shows as text with a Copy button, for the customer to paste into their bank’s app.
Example: the links one pro added, on a customer’s check-in page.

How it works

  1. 1

    Set the pay setup

On Payouts, choose Booth rent or Suite rental for each renter, and set their rent amount and schedule.

  2. 2

    Turn on No payments

For the location, switch on No payments (Staff, “How this location runs”). NextUp Walk-in then takes no customer payments there.

  3. 3

    Each pro adds their links

On their profile under Get paid directly: Cash App, Venmo, Zelle or their own link.

Who it’s for

  • Barbershop

Chairs rented to barbers, with the walk-in line and the TV still running for the whole floor.

  • Salon

Suites rented to stylists, each with their own payment links on their page.

  • Nail salon

Stations rented to nail techs who take payment their own way.

  • Tattoo studio

Stations rented to artists, with the studio collecting the rent.

The small things

  • What No payments turns off

Check out, Quick sale, tips, gift cards and unpaid-bill alerts, plus online deposits, no-show fees, packages and memberships at that location. Done just finishes the visit.

  • Per location, and reversible

One location can take no payments while another runs as usual. Nothing is deleted, so switching it back brings every screen back.

  • Rent stays rent

NextUp Walk-in takes no card fee on rent, and your NextUp plan billing does not change.

  • No record of those payments

A payment made through a pro’s own link happens outside NextUp Walk-in, so it is not in the shop’s reports or on a NextUp receipt.

Questions

Does NextUp Walk-in take the money when a customer uses a pay link?

No. The links only point to the pro’s own account. The customer pays the pro directly, and NextUp Walk-in does not take, hold, forward or record the payment.

Which plan do I need?

Booth rent and Suite rental, with rent collected on a schedule, are on Pro and the Restaurant plan, and the free trial has them. On Walk-in, new rent can’t be set up, but rent agreements made before a downgrade keep running.

Can a pro take Apple Pay?

NextUp Walk-in does not add Apple Pay to these links. A pro who has a pay link from their own processor, such as a Square, Stripe or PayPal link, can paste it in as their own link, and that link decides what the customer can use.

Who can add a pro’s payment links?

The pro, from their own sign-in, and an owner or manager. Each box is optional, and customers see only the ones that are filled in.

Does the app decide whether someone is a renter or an employee?

No. It offers different pay setups, and which one fits a person depends on your situation and your state’s rules. Confirm it with a qualified professional.

Can I turn No payments off again?

Yes. Nothing is deleted, so switching it back on at the location brings checkout, tips and the other payment screens back.
