- In your accounting reports
Issue a card in a few clicks
Set a balance, add who it is for if you like, and you get a code. Use your own code if you prefer.
- Balance and recipient. The recipient name and a note are for your records.
- Automatic or custom code.Generated for you, or typed in.
- Optional expiry.None by default; set one if your local laws require it.
- Pass the code on yourself.Gift cards are never texted.
Redeemed at checkout, never overspent
On the bill, choose Gift card, look up the code, and use as much as the customer wants. Pay the rest any other way.
- Partial use.The remaining balance stays on the card.
- From the Staff Screen too.Gift card on a customer’s row does the same for that visit’s bill.
- Split bills.A gift card can pay for one person’s items when a group splits the bill.
- No double spend. Two people using one card at once cannot overspend it.
- Refunds go back.Take it off a bill, or refund a paid bill, and the money returns to the card.
Every dollar accounted for
You were paid when you sold the card, so using it is kept apart from card payments. Your accountant sees what was issued, what was redeemed and what is still owed.
- A gift card report.Issued, redeemed and still owed, on the Accounting page, by PDF, Excel or CSV.
- A history on every card. Each redemption is listed on the card.
- No NextUp Walk-in fee on redemptions. Our card fee is never taken when a gift card pays.
- On the receipt. The gift card line shows on the bill’s receipt, beside tax and tip.
Close-out counts a bill paid fully by gift card as “another way”.

Questions
Do gift cards expire?
Not by default. You can set an expiry date on a card if your local laws require one.
Can a card pay part of a bill?
Yes. The balance left stays on the card.
Can a gift card and a card payment pay the same bill?
Yes. Use as much of the gift card as the customer wants, then take the rest in cash, on their phone, on a card reader or another way.
Where is gift card money in my reports?
You were paid when you sold the card, so using it is not counted as a card payment. The Accounting page shows gift cards issued, redeemed and still owed, and close-out counts a bill paid fully by gift card as another way.
Is it on every plan?
Gift cards are part of Pro and Restaurant, and the free trial includes them. Balances already sold can always be redeemed.
