A service that takes two people, booked as one

Tell NextUp Walk-in a service needs two, three or four people. A booking holds all of them at once, the client sees the extra charge before they pick a time, and the pay is shared when the bill is paid.

  • 1 to 4 people per service
  • A flat fee for each extra person
  • One booking, one total
  • Pay shared at checkout

Say how many people a service takes

In the service’s drawer, under Staff, choose how many people it needs, from one to four, and what each added person costs.

  • People needed. One to four. Most services stay at one and nothing about them changes.
  • A flat fee for each extra person.Charged for every person beyond the first, so a two-person service with a $20 fee adds $20.
  • Clients can ask for extra hands. An optional switch for a service that normally takes one person but can take two when the client asks.
  • Clients who always need help.Flag a client as needing extra hands, with a note, and every booking of theirs gets a second person.
Example: a large-dog groom that takes two people.

Booked once, with everyone held

A crew booking is one appointment with a crew on it, not two bookings that have to be kept in step.

  • Told before they pick a time. The booking page says it up front, such as “Needs 2 groomers, +$20”, and explains when too few people are free together.
  • The crew is chosen in one step. The people are picked as the booking is saved, so the last two free people cannot be taken by two bookings at once.
  • Busy means busy.Someone on a crew is unavailable for that time, to online booking and to the next person who books.
  • The fee is fixed at booking.A later price change, a swap of a person or a move does not change what the client was shown.
Example: what the client sees.

On the calendar, and when someone drops out

A crew booking shows how many people it takes, and it tells you when it has lost one.

  • Shown as “2 staff”.The calendar marks a booking that takes more than one person.
  • Needs another person. If someone is no longer free, for example after time off is added, the booking is flagged and Choose who lets you pick the replacement.
  • Moves with its crew.Moving a booking moves everyone on it, and a time is refused if any one of them is busy.
Example: a crew booking that lost someone.

Paid fairly at checkout

The bill carries the crew. The fee is its own line, and what each person earns follows their own pay rules.

  • An “Extra hands fee” line. The fee is a separate line on the bill, so the receipt shows exactly what it was.
  • Shared to the cent.Split equally, or with a lead’s share you set and the rest split equally. Commission, tips and card payments follow the same shares.
  • Each person’s own rates. One person can be paid on commission while another is paid straight from the card, as they are on any other bill.
  • Refunds take each part back.A refund reverses every person’s share in proportion.
Example: a crew bill.

How it works

  1. 1

    Set the crew size

On the service, choose how many people it takes and the fee for each extra.

  2. 2

    Clients book as normal

They see the extra charge, then pick a time when everyone needed is free.

  3. 3

    The crew is held

The booking appears on the calendar with every person on it.

  4. 4

    Check out

The bill carries the fee, and the pay is shared between the crew.

Who it’s for

  • Pet grooming

A large or nervous dog needs one person to hold and one to groom, booked as a single visit.

  • Barbershop

A wedding party or a kid’s first cut takes two barbers at once, with the fee shown up front.

  • Nail salon

A full set done by two technicians together, booked as one visit with both of them held.

The small things

  • Walk-in crews

A walk-in can pick a service that needs two. Whoever takes them leads, and the others see one card with a Join button.

  • The line waits for help

The line holds for a two-person customer for a set time (10 minutes unless you change it) before it calls the next person.

  • Told if help is late

If a crew is still short after a set time (5 minutes unless you change it), owners and managers are told once.

  • Next available understands crews

The time search needs every person free at once, so a time it offers is not refused.

Questions

Which plan has it?

Setting how many people a service takes, and the fee for each extra person, is on every plan, and a walk-in that needs a crew is handled on every plan. Booking a crew on the Calendar or your booking page is Pro, with appointments and online booking. The 14-day trial has every Pro feature.

How many people can a service need?

From one to four. Services that need one person work exactly as they did.

Is the extra person charged separately?

It is a flat fee for each person beyond the first, shown to the client before they book and kept as its own “Extra hands fee” line on the bill.

What if I change the fee later?

A booking keeps the fee it was made with. A new price applies to bookings made after it.

Do crew members get paid their usual rate?

Yes. The bill is shared between them, and each person’s part follows their own commission and pay rules. NextUp Walk-in shows what each person is owed, and your business pays its team.
