Free service counter sign-in sheet

A sign-in sheet for a service counter, repair desk or pickup window: first name, time in, what the customer needs, an order or reference number, and whether it is a pickup, a drop-off or a question. Add your business name, then print it or download the PDF. No email or sign-up.

A link where customers can join from their phone. The sheet prints it as a QR code with "Skip the clipboard". Leave it empty for paper only.

What the columns are for

The "What you need" column lets the person at the counter see the line by task. Three pickups clear quickly; one complicated return takes longer, and you can say so.

The order or reference number lets staff pull the item or file before the customer reaches the counter, which shortens the visit for everyone behind them.

The type boxes separate pickups, drop-offs and questions. A pickup can be handed over in a minute, so many counters serve those first and keep the longer help for the quiet moments.

Time in keeps the line honest. A glance shows how long the first person has been waiting, before they have to ask.

When the clipboard stops working

Paper works while the lobby is small. It stops when people look at a full room and leave without signing, when customers wait for one person, or when someone asks "how long?" and nobody knows. A sheet records arrivals. It can't show a wait, and it can't tell anyone it's their turn.

NextUp Walk-in is the same list on a phone. Customers scan a code at the door, see their place and wait, and follow it live from anywhere (text alerts coming soon). A TV in the lobby shows who's next. It's free for one location, one team member and 50 check-ins a month; paid plans, with the lobby TV, start at $29 a month for the first location, with a 14-day free trial. More in paper, Google Forms or a real waitlist.

Common questions

Why is there no phone number column?

A sign-in sheet sits on the counter where every customer can read it. A column of names and phone numbers is a list anyone can photograph. If you want to text people when it is their turn, take the number somewhere private, such as a phone Check-in Page that only the shop can see.

What kinds of counters is this for?

Any counter with a line of different tasks: parts counters, repair desks, pickup windows, rental returns, print and copy shops, and service desks. The task columns are open, so write whatever your customers ask for.

Should pickups be served before other tasks?

That is your call. Many counters serve quick pickups between longer tasks. The type boxes show you who is waiting for which, so you can choose without guessing.

What goes in the order or reference number column?

The number on the customer's receipt, claim ticket or order confirmation. Leave it blank for a question or a new request.

Can I use one sheet for the whole day?

Print a fresh sheet each day, or when the 22 lines fill. A new sheet keeps old names off the counter and the order easy to read.

Is this sign-in sheet free?

Yes. Print as many as you like, with no account and no email.
