Walk-in queue app for license plate and tag agencies
Renewals, transfers and titles in one line, each timed for what it really takes.
Customers join from a phone or a door tablet, pick why they came (a tag renewal, a plate transfer, a title, a new registration), and see their place and the wait live. Each reason has its own time, so a five-minute renewal is not quoted like a title with a lien. Agents call the next person from their own screen, and the lobby TV shows the number and the window. NextUp Walk-in runs your line. It is not connected to any government system.
- No app, no account
- Ticket numbers and window labels
- Not tied to any government system

Where the time goes today, before anything changes.
Month-end and renewal weeks bring everyone at once.
Where renewals fall due at the end of the month, the last week and the first days of the next fill the lobby with people who each put it off. Add a holiday weekend or a school break and the lobby fills well past its usual crowd. Paper numbers hand out a place in line with no idea whether the wait is ten minutes or ninety, and the people at the back cannot tell either.
Five different visits in one line.
A renewal sticker, a plate swap, a transfer after a private sale, a title with a lien and a dealership runner with a stack of folders are all one number on a paper roll. The agent who finishes a renewal in four minutes may be handed the title that takes half an hour.
The missing paper, found at the window.
Proof of insurance, the odometer reading, a signed title, a bill of sale. People wait forty minutes and are turned away at the window for the one thing they left at home. Each wasted trip is also a wasted turn for everyone behind them. Your join form can ask the questions you choose, such as “Do you have proof of insurance with you?” or “Does the title show a lien?”, and mark them required. The customer reads them on their phone and types an answer, and the agent sees it on the row. It is a prompt that costs nothing to add. It is not a document check, and it does not know what the customer actually has in the folder.
Several windows, no shared picture.
One agent knows titles, another is quicker at renewals. Without a shared line, the person who can do the job is busy while the one who cannot do it is free, and customers watch the wrong window light up.
Customers who will not leave their place.
On a hot afternoon or a cold morning nobody wants to leave the lobby in case they miss the call, so the room stays packed, the line of cars stays at the door and every agent gets asked “how much longer?”.
How NextUp Walk-in helps
What changes once the line lives on a phone, not on paper.
Every reason timed on its own
Renewals, plate transfers, titles and dealer drop-offs each carry their own time, so the wait on a customer’s phone follows what the agents actually do.
The right agent, the right window
Choose who handles which reason, such as titles to your two most experienced agents. “Call next” skips visits an agent is not on the list for, and a window label like “Window 3” shows on the web TV and the customer’s page. Customers learn where to go without asking.
Wait in the car, come back when called
The customer’s page shows their place live. “Are you still coming?” checks on anyone who drifted off, and the lobby empties.

Priority, tickets and windows
Every plan
Each is off until you switch it on for a location (Locations, then Priority, tickets and windows). Leave them off and the line stays plain first come, first served.
- First-come ticket numbers. A012 instead of a name on the TV and the customer’s page, with a letter you choose for each kind of visit (R for renewals, T for titles). Numbers restart each morning, and a name becomes optional on the join form.
- Numbered windows. A label for each agent shows on the call-up on the web TV and on the customer’s page. The Apple TV and Roku apps show the ticket number but not the window label yet.
- Who serves what. Choose which agents handle which reason, such as titles to two people. “Call next” skips visits an agent is not on the list for, and a manual call is still allowed.
- A printed ticket at the door tablet. The big number, people ahead, the estimated wait, the reason and a QR to the customer’s own place, through the browser’s print dialog on a receipt printer (58 or 80 mm). Printing without a dialog needs the browser’s kiosk-printing setting.
- A priority lane. A customer can tick “I need priority seating or help”, and staff can set or clear a level on any row. The TV and other customers never see priority. Every change records who made it and why.
The line
- One reason per visit, from your own list: tag renewal, plate transfer, title transfer, new registration, dealer drop-off, replacement plate. Each counts for its own time, and the agent sees it first.
- Up to five questions on the join form, written by you and marked required or optional: the last four of the VIN, whether the title has a lien, or whether they have proof of insurance with them. Customers type an answer, and it shows on the row on the Staff Screen. Nothing is checked against a record.
- Several agents, one line. Each agent calls the next visitor from the Staff Screen on any tablet, laptop or phone, and the estimate uses how many are working.
- Wait anywhere. Customers sit in the car or walk to the lunch place next door. “Are you still coming?” checks on anyone who wandered off.
- Hours, a cap and a no-show timer, so the line opens, fills and closes on its own, and the last customer of the day is a number you chose.
- The lobby TV in your colors, with the line, the wait, a QR to join and the local forecast. Spoken call-ups in English or Spanish, and a large-text, high-contrast view, are opt-in.
- Seven languages on customer screens: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Haitian Creole and Simplified Chinese.
Staffing the week
- A service report per agent and per reason: visitors served, average wait, time at the window, the slowest tenth, and the share seen within a target you set, such as 20 minutes, as a page and a CSV.
- Insights: visitors by weekday and hour, average wait, quoted versus real waits, people who left, and a Monday summary email.
- Best time to come today. The Check-in Page shows the lowest expected wait by quarter-hour for the rest of today, so a customer with flexibility comes when it is quiet.
- Appointments beside the line (Pro). A dealer drop-off or a business account visit can be scheduled, and a visitor arriving for one can be set to go ahead of walk-ins.
- More than one office: each location runs its own line, TV and kiosk.
Example day: the last Friday of the month with NextUp Walk-in
An example day, hour by hour, with the line on everyone's phone.
- 8:00
The agency opens. Eighteen people joined from the QR on the door and the link on the website while the first agent logged in.
- 8:20
A visitor without a phone joins at the kiosk and prints ticket R014. The TV calls “R014, Window 2”.
- 9:30
A title transfer and a plate swap join a minute apart. The title goes to the two agents who do titles, and the plate swap goes to whoever is free, so the long job does not hold up the short one.
- 10:45
A customer’s answer to the lien question is “yes, paperwork at home.” The agent sees it on the row before calling them, steps over to explain what to bring, and the customer rejoins tomorrow instead of using up forty minutes at the window.
- 12:00
A visitor with low vision uses the large-text lobby TV, and the call-up is spoken aloud in English or Spanish.
- 12:40
A dealership runner arrives with a stack of folders. The runner joined with the dealer drop-off reason, so the agent who handles dealer work is called for it, and the quick renewals behind are not stuck waiting on a stack of folders.
- 1:15
Six people in cars answer “Are you still coming?” with “5 minutes”. The lobby is half full instead of standing room.
- 4:00
The cap you set for the last hour stops new joins. Everyone already in the line is served.
- Monday
The summary email shows the last three business days of the month and 9:00 to 11:00 are the peaks, and the service report shows title transfers ran past the 20-minute target. Next month a third title agent is scheduled.

Why switch to NextUp Walk-in
- Replacing a paper ticket roll? Customers join from their phone or the kiosk, or take a printed numbered ticket from the door tablet, and the lobby TV shows the number at each window.
- Tired of one number for five kinds of visit? Every reason has its own time, so the wait on a phone matches the work.
- Agents specialize? Choose who serves which reason, and give each agent a window label.
- Need to know when to staff up? Insights and the service report show the real peaks and which reasons run long.
- Not looking for a government integration. NextUp Walk-in does not connect to any state system, run records or submit registrations. It manages your waiting line and nothing more.

License plate and tag agencies: common questions
Is there a queue app for license plate and tag agencies?
Yes. NextUp Walk-in is a virtual queue for private tag, title and registration agencies: customers join from a phone or door tablet, pick why they came and see their place live. Agents call the next customer from their own screen, and the lobby TV shows the number and the window.
Does it connect to the DMV or any state system?
No. NextUp Walk-in is not connected to any government system. It does not look up records, verify a plate, VIN or insurance policy, or submit a registration or title to a state. It runs the waiting line for your agency, and you keep doing the transaction in your usual systems the way you do today. Nothing about your state’s rules, fees or required papers is built in.
Can customers pick why they are visiting?
Yes. They choose one reason from your list, like a tag renewal, a plate transfer or a title transfer. Each reason counts for its own time, and the agent sees the reason before the customer reaches the window.
Can I ask what documents they have with them?
You can add up to five questions to the join form, such as whether they have proof of insurance, the VIN or an odometer reading, and mark each required or optional. The answers show on the row on the Staff Screen. It records what the customer says and does not verify any document. Keep the full list of what to bring on your website and door sign as well, since five questions will not cover every kind of transaction.
Do customers need to download an app?
No. They join in their phone’s browser with no account, and a name is all they need. With ticket numbers switched on, a name becomes optional.
Can it show first-come ticket numbers like A012 on the TV?
Yes. Switch on ticket numbers and the TV, the join page and the customer’s page show a code instead of a name. You choose a letter for each kind of visit, and numbers restart each morning.
Can I run several windows with different agents?
Yes. Each agent calls the next customer from the Staff Screen on any tablet, laptop or phone, and the estimate uses how many are working. Window labels show on the web TV and the customer’s page, and you can choose which agents handle which reason.
Can I show a waiting-room TV in the lobby?
Yes. Any TV with a browser works, and there are apps for Apple TV, Roku and Fire TV. It shows who is at which window, who is next, the current wait and a QR code to join, in your colors.
Can customers leave the lobby while they wait?
Yes. They can wait in the car or run an errand and watch their place on their phone. “Are you still coming?” checks on anyone who has wandered off, and a no-show timer releases a spot if they do not answer.
What about customers without a smartphone?
Put a tablet in kiosk mode by the door, and customers join there. The kiosk never saves one customer’s name or number for the next. You can print a numbered ticket, and staff can add someone by hand.
Can I run walk-ins and scheduled visits together?
On the Pro plan, yes. Appointments sit on the same line as walk-ins, with confirmation and 24-hour and 1-hour reminders, and a visitor arriving for one can be set to go ahead of walk-ins. The Walk-in plan runs the walk-in line only.
Can I see when the agency is busiest?
Yes. Insights shows visitors by weekday and hour, average wait and quoted versus real waits, and a Monday summary email brings it to you. The service report shows wait and handle time per agent and per reason.
Can dealership runners and business accounts use the same line?
Yes. A runner joins like anyone else with a dealer drop-off reason of its own, so the agent who handles dealer work is called for it. On the Pro plan, a recurring business account visit can be scheduled and set to go ahead of walk-ins. NextUp Walk-in does not keep the dealer’s deal files or send anything to the state.
Can customers join before they leave home?
Yes. The join link works from anywhere, so a customer can get in line from their kitchen table, see the wait and drive over when their place is close. The Check-in Page also shows the lowest expected wait by quarter-hour for the rest of today, which helps people avoid the last-day crush.
Can I see how long each agent takes per kind of visit?
Yes. The service report shows, per agent and per reason, visitors served, average wait, time at the window, the slowest tenth, and the share seen within a target you set, over 7 or 30 days, with a CSV download. It is how you learn whether title work needs another person.
Can it print the paper number I give out today?
Yes, once you switch on the printed ticket for the location. The door tablet prints the big number, people ahead, the estimated wait, the reason and a QR to the customer’s own place, through the browser’s print dialog on a receipt printer.
Let the lobby empty out.
Set up your first location in about two minutes. Your line can be live before your next walk-in.
