Peak hour
A peak hour is a period when the number of arriving customers is highest compared with the rest of the day, producing the longest lines and waits.
Also called: rush hour, busiest hours, busy period
Almost every walk-in business has a rhythm. Barbershops fill on Saturday morning and after work on weekdays. Car washes surge after a sunny weekend day. Tax offices have a few weeks that dwarf the rest of the year. The peak hour is where demand runs ahead of the chairs.
Knowing yours is practical. Staff schedules can lean toward it, breaks can move away from it, and prep can finish before it begins. It also tells you when a long wait is normal rather than a failure.
Customers have more choice than owners assume. A shop that shows the live wait, or a forecast of when it is quieter, lets some people shift to a calmer hour and relieves the pressure on the peak.

Questions
How do I find my busiest hours?
Count arrivals by hour over several weeks. A sign-in sheet works if it is kept honestly; software that records check-ins by hour does the counting for you.
