## What the columns are for

The piercing column tells the piercer what is coming. A lobe is a quick job, and a cartilage or nostril piercing takes more setup, so the next walk-in hears an honest wait.

The piercer column keeps requests visible, so a customer who asked for one piercer is not called by another by mistake.

The "Age OK" box is for staff. Tick it once you have checked ID against your studio's rules, so nobody reaches the chair without the check.

The "Parent" and "Waiver" boxes record that a parent or guardian is present when your rules call for one and that the waiver is signed. The waiver itself stays with your records.

## When the clipboard stops working

Paper works while the lobby is small. It stops when people look at a full room and leave without signing, when customers wait for one person, or when someone asks "how long?" and nobody knows. A sheet records arrivals. It can't show a wait, and it can't tell anyone it's their turn.

NextUp Walk-in is the same list on a phone. Customers scan a code at the door, see their place and wait, and follow it live from anywhere (text alerts coming soon). A TV in the lobby shows who's next. It's free for one location, one team member and 50 check-ins a month; paid plans, with the lobby TV, start at $29 a month for the first location, with a 14-day free trial. ## Common questions

Why is there no phone number column?

A sign-in sheet sits on the counter where every customer can read it. A column of names and phone numbers is a list anyone can photograph. If you want to text people when it is their turn, take the number somewhere private, such as a phone Check-in Page that only the shop can see.

Does the age box replace checking ID?

No. The box only records that someone on your team checked ID against your studio's rules. Your local rules on age and consent are your own to follow.

Does the sheet replace a waiver?

No. The "Waiver" box records that one was signed. Keep the signed waiver itself with your records, on paper or as a digital waiver.

What should a customer write for the piercing?

The place and the type, such as "left helix" or "lobe, both". Details about jewelry and aftercare are best handled at the chair.

Can I use the same sheet for tattoos?

Piercing is the focus here. For a studio that does both, the tattoo and piercing sheet has an open artist column and boxes for flash, piercing, touch-up and consult.

How do I handle a minor with a parent?

Follow your own studio's rules. Tick "Parent" when the parent or guardian is on site and has done what you require, and keep the paperwork with your records.

Is this sign-in sheet free?

Yes. Print as many as you like, with no account and no email.
