## What the columns are for

Length is the column that sets the wait. A 90-minute session ties a room up for far longer than a 30-minute one, so the next walk-in gets a real time instead of "soon".

The therapist column keeps requests in view. When a regular asks for one therapist, you can offer the first available before they sit down to wait.

The treatment column lets the front desk match the room: a facial, a deep tissue massage and a body wrap do not all use the same space.

The "New" box is for staff. A first visit means an intake form and a few extra minutes, so plan the slot to match. Keep the intake itself with your records, not on the sheet.

## When the clipboard stops working

Paper works while the lobby is small. It stops when people look at a full room and leave without signing, when customers wait for one person, or when someone asks "how long?" and nobody knows. A sheet records arrivals. It can't show a wait, and it can't tell anyone it's their turn.

NextUp Walk-in is the same list on a phone. Customers scan a code at the door, see their place and wait, and follow it live from anywhere (text alerts coming soon). A TV in the lobby shows who's next. It's free for one location, one team member and 50 check-ins a month; paid plans, with the lobby TV, start at $29 a month for the first location, with a 14-day free trial. ## Common questions

Why is there no phone number column?

A sign-in sheet sits on the counter where every customer can read it. A column of names and phone numbers is a list anyone can photograph. If you want to text people when it is their turn, take the number somewhere private, such as a phone Check-in Page that only the shop can see.

Do massage studios take walk-ins?

Many do, especially for shorter sessions when a therapist is free. A sign-in sheet shows who is waiting, for whom and for how long. Tell each walk-in the likely wait before they sign.

Where do health history and intake answers go?

Keep them in your client files, not on the sheet. The sheet is on the counter where everyone can read it, so it should hold only a first name, a treatment and a length.

How do I handle a couples or double booking?

Write both first names on one line and note "2" beside the treatment, or use two lines. Call them together once two rooms or therapists are free.

Can I add my own treatments?

Treatment is an open column, so write anything. The length boxes cover the common session lengths; write another beside them if you offer one.

Is this sign-in sheet free?

Yes. Print as many as you like, with no account and no email.
