## What the columns are for

The vehicle column (color and type, such as "black SUV") is how a crew finds the right car when the keys come back. It also tells you if a truck or a van needs a longer bay.

The service boxes separate a quick wash from a full detail. A wash is a few minutes at the bay; a detail can hold a car for hours, so the next customer should hear that before they wait.

Wait or drop-off sets the order. A driver waiting by the door needs a spot sooner than one who is leaving the keys and walking away.

Leave plates off the sheet. Everyone at the counter can read it, so write the plate on the work ticket.

## When the clipboard stops working

Paper works while the lobby is small. It stops when people look at a full room and leave without signing, when customers wait for one person, or when someone asks "how long?" and nobody knows. A sheet records arrivals. It can't show a wait, and it can't tell anyone it's their turn.

NextUp Walk-in is the same list on a phone. Customers scan a code at the door, see their place and wait, and follow it live from anywhere (text alerts coming soon). A TV in the lobby shows who's next. It's free for one location, one team member and 50 check-ins a month; paid plans, with the lobby TV, start at $29 a month for the first location, with a 14-day free trial. ## Common questions

Why is there no phone number column?

A sign-in sheet sits on the counter where every customer can read it. A column of names and phone numbers is a list anyone can photograph. If you want to text people when it is their turn, take the number somewhere private, such as a phone Check-in Page that only the shop can see.

How do I handle a long line on a busy weekend?

Call in sign-in order, and tick "Done" as each car leaves. Tell anyone who ticked Detail how long the wait is before they sign, since a detail ties up a bay far longer than a wash.

Should waiting and drop-off customers share one sheet?

Yes. One sheet keeps the order honest, and the W or D mark shows who can walk away. Fit drop-offs into gaps between waiting customers.

Can I add add-ons like pet hair or ceramic coating?

The printed boxes cover the common services. Write extras beside them, or note them on the work ticket.

Should the license plate go on the sheet?

Keep it off. The sheet is on the counter for anyone to read. Write the plate on the ticket instead.

Is this sign-in sheet free?

Yes. Print as many as you like, with no account and no email.
