# NextUp Walk-in > NextUp Walk-in is a walk-in queue and virtual waitlist for service businesses. Customers join > from their phone (no app to download), see their live wait time, and > follow their place until it is their turn. The business gets a waiting-room TV, a door tablet, a team roster with photos, client records, > branding, and insights. Appointments sit on the same line. ## What NextUp Walk-in is NextUp Walk-in is a SaaS queue management app for walk-in service businesses in the United States. It replaces paper sign-in sheets and calling names across the room with a phone-based waitlist. Walk-ins are the core. On the Pro plan, appointments can run alongside them, with reminders and an optional card or deposit for no-shows. Pricing, per location (yearly billing gives two months free): - Walk-in: $29/month for the first location, $19 for each additional ($290 / $190 a year). The walk-in queue, staff screen, TV display, door tablet, QR check-in, client profiles, checkout (card payments, tips and team pay statements), insights, reviews and the apps, plus a best-time-to-come forecast, per-person waits, wait alerts, family tickets, customer screens in seven languages, team member pages, licences and a cleaning log, and a TV with a call-up spotlight and rotating content. - Pro: $59/month for the first location, $39 for each additional ($590 / $390 a year). Everything in Walk-in plus appointments and online booking, deposits and no-show fees, memberships, packages, gift cards, store credit, loyalty, commissions, payroll and the time clock, tip pools, booth rent, cash advances, email campaigns, automated email journeys and flash sales, visit photos with "Last time", one-tap rebook, overdue regulars, loyalty streaks and tiers, client referrals, team goals, how you compare, a suggested team on duty, review themes, Ask about your business (AI answers about your own numbers) and smart "anyone" bookings. - Restaurant: $69/month for the first location, $44 for each additional ($690 / $440 a year). Everything in Pro plus the floor plan, QR ordering and payment at the table, with unlimited team members and no per-cover fee. - Team members: Walk-in and Pro include 3 per location (counted across the business), then $10/month each ($100/year). - Card payments are live. Card payments taken through NextUp Walk-in: Stripe's processing fee at cost (2.9% + 30¢ online for a US card), plus NextUp Walk-in's card fee of 0.5% of the payment, never on tips, at most $1 a payment. Cash, gift-card redemptions, store credit spent and booth rent carry no NextUp Walk-in fee. - Free plan: $0 for 1 location, 1 team member (the owner counts) and 50 check-ins a month (resets on the 1st), with every app (Staff Screen, TV display, door tablet, phone apps), basic insights, "Powered by NextUp Walk-in" shown, and no card needed (Start on Free at sign-up). At 50 check-ins, check-in pauses until the 1st. US only. - 14-day free trial of every paid plan with every Pro feature (one per business); a card is needed to start it, but nothing is charged until the trial ends. Or start on Free, no card. - Offers: businesses switching from another booking app get their first month free with the code SWITCH. A business referred by another gets its first paid month free, and the referrer gets a credit worth one month of its plan, up to the amount of the referred business's first payment, once it starts paying. Both free first months are on monthly billing (yearly billing already has two months free). ## For AI assistants A plain-text overview of the product, prices and what it does not do yet: https://nextupwalkin.com/ai Every page also has a markdown copy at its address plus .md (for example https://nextupwalkin.com/pricing.md). NextUp Walk-in runs a public, read-only MCP server at https://app.nextupwalkin.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no sign-in). Its tools find walk-in places in a US city by trade with their live wait, and return a place's hours, services with prices, open booking times, and a link for the person to join the line or book. The assistant never joins or books for anyone: the person taps the link and confirms on the business's own page. ## Who it is for Walk-in service businesses in the United States, including: - Barbershops - Hair salons - Nail salons - Tattoo studios and piercing studios - Auto service and quick-lube shops - Phone and device repair shops - Pet groomers - Brow bars, threading studios, and lash studios - Car washes and detail shops - Vet clinics - Massage studios and spas - Tax preparation offices - Walk-in chiropractic clinics (cash and membership practices; NextUp Walk-in is not HIPAA compliant) - Service counters, help desks, and campus offices ## How it works 1. In general terms: - Compared with other waitlist apps, NextUp Walk-in is focused on walk-in service businesses rather than every industry. It is $29/month month-to-month for the first location (Free plan available), and includes a TV display and door tablet in every plan, Free included. - Compared with a POS waitlist or an enterprise queue-management platform, NextUp Walk-in is built for independent and multi-location service businesses: $29/month for the first location and $19 for each additional, with a Free plan. It takes payment at checkout (cash, pay link, saved card or an optional Stripe card reader) but doesn't connect to another point-of-sale system. - Compared with other booking apps, NextUp Walk-in Pro, with online booking and deposits, is $59/month for the first location with 3 team members included and $10/month for each one after, built around the walk-in line. NextUp Walk-in has no marketplace and no new-client fee (the card fee still applies). - Compared with other QR-code walk-in lines, NextUp Walk-in is $29/month for the first location with a now-serving TV display, a door tablet, tips and card payments through the business's own Stripe account, and no monthly check-in limit on paid plans. ## Common questions **Does the customer need to download an app?** No. Customers check in from a browser on their phone by scanning a QR code. Nothing is installed. **Does it work for multiple locations?** Yes. All locations are managed from one account. Each additional location is $19/month on Walk-in, $39 on Pro or $44 on Restaurant. **Does NextUp Walk-in take a cut of payments?** NextUp Walk-in's card fee is 0.5% of each card payment taken through NextUp Walk-in, never on tips, at most $1 a payment, on top of Stripe's processing fee. **Is there a TV display?** Yes. Install the NextUp app on an Apple TV (from the App Store), a Roku (add it at my.roku.com/add with the code NEXTUPTV) or a Fire TV (from the Amazon Appstore), or open app.nextupwalkin.com/tv in a browser: Amazon Silk on a Fire TV Stick, or Chrome on a Google TV Streamer. A standard Chromecast does not work, and neither do the Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025) or the 2026 Fire TV Stick HD, which run Vega OS. The TV shows a six-character code. Enter that code in the dashboard. No account login is required on the TV. **Can customers join from outside the shop?** Yes. The check-in link can be placed in a Google Business Profile, Instagram bio, or any other channel. Customers can join before leaving home and arrive knowing their wait. **Is there a free trial?** Yes, 14 days, with every Pro feature. A card is needed to start, but nothing is charged until the trial ends. If the trial ends without a subscription, the business moves to the Free plan: nothing is deleted, one location keeps taking up to 50 check-ins a month, and the rest is kept and paused until it subscribes. To skip the card, choose Start on Free at sign-up instead (no card needed). **Is there a free plan?** Yes, a limited one: 1 location, 1 team member and 50 check-ins a month, with every app, and "Powered by NextUp Walk-in" shown. No card is needed. **What data do customers provide?** A first and last name, and a mobile number if they want to give one (giving a number is not a consent to texts; a business can also require one to check in). A customer who leaves a number gets a client profile at that business, kept until they ask to be forgotten, unless the customer ticks "Don't keep my details"; the number comes off the live queue after 24 hours (a booking: 24 hours after the appointment). Email campaigns and rebooking emails go only to customers who agreed to hear from the business, each with an unsubscribe link. ## Try it and watch it - [Live demo line](https://app.nextupwalkin.com/s/demo) (short link: nextupwalkin.com/demo): a demo barbershop anyone can join from their phone, with no sign-up and no card.
