## Start with how your business runs

Choose a setup and watch one visit’s money land where it belongs. It’s a starting point, not a lock: you can change it for a person, a location or the whole business later.

Booth rent

### Renters work a station on your floor. Their tips and services go on their statement, less the rent they pay you.

- Recorded as**Contractor, not in payroll files**
- Rent**On a schedule you set**
- Shop’s share of services**None, or a percentage you set**
- Punch card**Can run their own**
- Memberships and packages**Can sell their own**

A customer pays **$48**$8 of it a tip

- Shop’s membership**$60**Shop’s membership $60 goes to the business

Example, before processing fees. The business pays Andre from their statement; NextUp Walk-in never holds the money.

Person by person

## One business, as many arrangements as you have people

Real shops are mixed: employees on commission, a renter in the corner, a new hire who only keeps tips. Give each person the setup that fits, and change one without touching the rest.

- **What goes on their statement**Nothing, their tips, their tips and commission, or their tips and services. Pick it for one person without touching anyone else.
- **What the business keeps**A renter can pay the business a percentage of their services as well as rent, for a hybrid. Leave it at zero for a pure rental.
- **An assistant’s share**Give an assistant a percentage of a pro’s tips and of their service payments.

**Payouts: how your team earns**

Try it: tap a setup to move a person.

- C**Chris**Commission or wages

Every payment goes to the business. You pay Chris yourself, on the commission or wages you set.

- A**Andre**Booth rent

Andre’s tips and services go on their own statement, less the rent they pay you.

- L**Luis**Tips to staff

Luis’s tips go on their own statement. Everything else stays with the business.

Example: Fade Room Barbershop’s team. Changing one person changes no one else.

**Booth and suite rent**

WeeklyEvery two weeksMonthly

- 1**Taken off what you owe them**Rent comes off what you owe the renter first, so a renter who has earned enough is never chased for it separately.
- 2**Then their saved card or US bank account**If the statement doesn’t cover it, the renter’s saved card or bank account is charged. They get a reminder before and a receipt after.
- 3**Or you settle it by hand**Carry it to next time, waive it, or mark it paid in cash. You hear about any payment that fails, and late rent shows how many days late.

Rent has its own line on every statement and in your books.

Rent Pro

## Rent that collects itself

Set an amount and a schedule for each renter and stop keeping track. Rent is its own step, separate from how someone is paid, so a chair renter and a suite renter each get the schedule that suits them.

- Weekly, every two weeks or monthly, for any amount per person
- Reminders before it’s due and a receipt when it’s paid
- You hear about any payment that fails, and see how many days late it is
- NextUp Walk-in’s card fee is never charged on rent

Several locations

## Every location its own way

A downtown shop on commission and a suites building next door don’t have to share rules. Let a location follow the business, or give it its own setup, and even its own Stripe account.

- Turn on separate setups for locations in one switch
- A location can follow the business or choose its own
- People can still be set up one by one inside any location

**Pay setup for each location**

- **Downtown**Follows the businessCommission or wages
- **Riverside Suites**Its own setupSuite rental
- **North Shop**Its own setupTips to staff

Example: three locations, two of them set up on their own.

What your team sees

## Everyone can see what they’re owed

Each person signs in and reads their own statement: their tips and, for renters, their services, less rent and advances. No one has to ask what they’re owed, and nobody sees anyone else’s.

- You pay your team yourself, your way, then mark it paid
- Nothing for a team member to set up and no bank to connect
- Download any statement as a PDF, CSV or Excel file

## Up and running in four steps

- 1

### Connect your Stripe account

It takes about five minutes: your business details and a bank account. Customers’ card payments, tips included, are charged on your own account.

- 2

### Choose a starting point

Commission or wages, tips to staff, booth rent or suite rental. It’s the default for everyone, and the first thing you see on the Payouts page.

- 3

### Adjust anyone who’s different

Move one person to a different setup, change what lands on their statement, or give an assistant a share. Nobody else is affected.

- 4

### Pay your team from the statement

Each person sees what they’re owed in their own sign-in. You pay them, your way, and mark it paid. Rent runs on its own schedule.

## Built for how your trade really works

The same setups fit every kind of business where more than one person earns.

-

### Barbershops and hair salons

Some chairs on commission, one rented by a barber who has run their own book for years, and every tip on the right statement.

-

### Salon suites and studios

Every pro rents a private room and keeps their own services and tips. You collect the rent and run the front desk.

-

### Tattoo and piercing studios

Artists on a split, guest artists on a weekly booth fee, and an assistant who gets a share of the artist’s tips.

-

### Nail, lash and massage

Technicians on commission and independents on rent, side by side, with the same statement for each.

## Plain answers to the big questions

### Your money stays yours

Payments are processed by Stripe on your own Stripe account; NextUp Walk-in never holds your money. We show what each person is owed. You pay them.

### You decide who is who

Which setup fits a person is your decision under your state’s rules. “Employee” and “contractor” are labels the app records for your reports. It doesn’t decide or check them.

### On the plan you have

- Every plan**Pay statements and tips**Every payment on the right statement, for every team member, with exports.
- Pro**Commission, payroll, tip pools and rent**The free trial has every Pro feature.

## Questions

Do I have to choose one setup for the whole business?

No. The business has a starting point, and every person can follow it or be set up differently. A shop with two employees on commission and two renters is one business with two setups.

Who actually pays my team?

You do. NextUp Walk-in shows what each person is owed, on a statement they can read themselves, and you pay them your own way and mark it paid. NextUp Walk-in never holds your money or sends team pay.

Where do customers’ card payments go?

To your own Stripe account. Payments are processed by Stripe on your own Stripe account, and NextUp Walk-in never holds your money.

How is rent collected?

Weekly, every two weeks or monthly, for the amount you set for each renter. It comes off what you owe the renter first, then their saved card or US bank account, and you can carry it, waive it or mark it paid. NextUp Walk-in’s card fee is never charged on rent.

Employee or contractor: who decides?

You do. Which setup fits a person is your decision under your state’s rules. The app records your choice for your reports and payroll files, and it doesn’t decide or check it.

What does it cost?

Pay statements and tips are on every plan. Commission, payroll, tip pools and rent are on Pro and the Restaurant plan, and the 14-day free trial has every Pro feature.

Can I change a setup later?

Yes, for the business, a location or one person, whenever your arrangements change.

Does it work for businesses that aren’t barbershops?

Yes. The same setups work for salons, suites, studios, spas and more.
