- Evenly, by amount or by items
- One tip per bill
- Pay on their own phone
- Cash drawer count

## Split a bill in three steps

Open the bill and press Split this bill. Choose how to split, take this share, then see what is left.

- **Evenly.**Split it 2 to 20 ways. The first payments take the extra cent and the last one takes exactly what is left.
- **By amount.**Pick Half, Remaining or Custom, up to what is left.
- **By items.**Tick what this person is paying for. A shared item can be split in halves, thirds or any number of shares up to 20.
- **Adds up to the cent.**Discounts, sales tax and any deposit are shared out, and the last person’s items take what is left.

## Each share, paid its own way

One bill can take a mix of payments, each with its own tip, and the bill is paid by itself when the last one brings it to zero.

- **Any mix.**Cash, another way, a card reader, Tap to Pay, the M2 reader, a gift card, store credit or the customer’s phone, two cards included.
- **Their own phone.**Make a link for a share. The customer scans the QR code, adds a tip worked out on their share and pays by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- **One tip per bill.**Each payment can have its own tip, or turn on “Tip on the whole bill” once. A second one is refused.
- **Refunds one at a time.**Refunds on a split bill go back one payment at a time, each the way it was paid.

## Close out the day

Owners and managers open Checkout, then Close out the day, to see the day in one place and count the cash drawer.

- **Who did not pay.**Walked out, left open or never checked out, in red at the top, each with Collect and Cancel bill.
- **Money in.**Card, cash, other, total and tips, with any refunds given that day.
- **A live difference.**Type the starting cash and the cash you counted. The difference shows at once: green when it matches, red when short, orange when over.
- **How we got the total.**Lists the starting cash, each cash payment (time, name, bill number) and cash refunds, so you can see why the drawer should hold that much.

-

-

### Barbershop

The owner closes out each evening: cash counted, tips shown and the walkout collected next visit.

## The small things

-

### Cash tips

A tip handed over in cash is recorded for the team member’s payroll and is not counted in the close-out drawer.

-

### Unpaid tab

Walkouts show on the Unpaid tab with a Collect button, and a red alert on the Staff Screen at their next check-in.

-

### Split by seat

On the Restaurant plan, a table’s bill can also be split by seat.

### Every payment listed

Receipts, the close-out and reports list each payment on a split bill.

Evenly from 2 to 20 ways, or by amount or items. Customers can have up to 20 shares waiting on one bill.

What if a share is never paid on a phone?

A share waiting on a phone holds its amount for about half an hour. If it is not paid by then, the amount is left to pay again.
