## How a Customer Pays

- **The bill is ready**The visit’s bill comes up at checkout with its services, tax and any tip.
- **The customer pays you in Zelle**They send the amount to your Zelle account on their own phone, outside NextUp Walk-in.
- **Your team records it**Once your team has seen the payment arrive, they record the bill as paid with Zelle.
- **The bill closes**The receipt shows Zelle, the customer’s payment list says “Paid with Zelle”, and the payment is its own line in your end-of-day totals.

## What You Do

- An owner switches Zelle on for the business on the Payment methods screen. It is off by default.
- Your team confirms the payment arrived in your Zelle account before recording it: NextUp Walk-in can’t see your Zelle account.

## Good to Know

- No money moves through NextUp Walk-in or Stripe, and NextUp Walk-in’s card fee doesn’t apply.
- Zelle is not counted in the cash drawer or the close-out cash count. It has its own line in the end-of-day totals, the payment lists, exports and the accountant package.
- A tip on a Zelle payment counts as a non-cash tip.
- A refund is recorded only: your team pays the customer back in Zelle outside NextUp Walk-in, then records it, and the bill shows “Refunded by Zelle, recorded”.
- Customers don’t see Zelle as a way to pay on a pay link, QR code, booking deposit or online gift card.

## Questions About Zelle

Can customers pay me with Zelle through NextUp Walk-in?

No. They pay your Zelle account themselves, and your team records on the bill that it was paid. NextUp Walk-in doesn’t move the money.

Does NextUp Walk-in charge a fee on Zelle?

No. It isn’t a card payment, so NextUp Walk-in’s card fee doesn’t apply. Any fee Zelle charges you is between you and Zelle.

How do I turn on Zelle?

An owner switches it on for the business on the Payment methods screen of the dashboard. It is off until they do.

Is Zelle counted as cash at close-out?

No. It stays out of the cash drawer and the cash count, and has its own line in the end-of-day totals.

How do refunds work?

NextUp Walk-in records the refund; it doesn’t send it. Your team pays the customer back in Zelle, then records it on the bill.

Payments are processed by Stripe on your own Stripe account; NextUp Walk-in never holds your money. NextUp Walk-in’s card fee is 0.5% of card payments, never on tips, at most $1 a payment, on top of Stripe’s processing fee.
